The Origins of Hard Rock

Hard rock has been an iconic genre ever since it started. However, most do not know its origins. Interestingly, one of its major influences is blues music, which focuses on musicianship and hard-hitting vocals. When bands started modifying rock and roll, they added heavier riffs, harder sounds, and louder vocals. Early stages of hard rock development can be seen in the early songs of The Who. Then came Jimi Hendrix, who mashed psychedelic rock with blues and jazz, resulting in a unique blend of music that spawned the birth of so many other forms of music, all classified under hard rock.
