Getting Started Playing Squash

If you are starting out learning to play squash, there is some essential squash equipment you will need to purchase. The bare minimum needed to play is a racket and balls. The balls are readily available and quite inexpensive. Rackets come in a variety of price ranges, depending on quality; there is nothing wrong with starting out with an inexpensive racket and upgrading if you become a more serious player. A number of familiar brands are known for making quality equipment; these include Dunlop, Head, Prince, and Wilson.

Once you have purchased this basic Squash Equipment, you’ll want to make sure you’re familiar with the rules of the game before starting out. You’ll also need to wear appropriate clothing; this need not be anything special, just comfortable garments you would wear for other exercise. Once you’ve found a location to play, you’re ready to go. Whether you’re a junior or adult player, it’s not a bad idea to take a couple of lessons when you’re starting out. It’s a great way to pick up some tips on how to play better, and often you can also meet other players of your skill level. It’s a good idea to stick with one partner, so that you can get used to his playing style.
