Greenhouse Misting: The Technology Behind the Tomato

Technology is probably the secret to that perfect tomato in your salad. This is because modern growers often produce crops in climate-controlled greenhouses.  These provide the ideal amount of sun, water, food, and chemicals to grow healthy plants.  A key to the process is greenhouse misting, which is a system of injecting precise amounts of water, fungicides, bactericides and other things needed for plants to thrive.  It works by bathing the plants in a fog-like atmosphere which is ideal for them.  This automatic misting is virtually maintenance-free and is typically set on a timer.  The system allows growers to produce the maximum number of healthy plants possible.
