NLEX – North Luzon Expressway from Manila to Tarlac

North Luzon Expressway is the highway that connects up the NCR (Metro Manila) with Central Luzon. It extends for some 88 km (55 miles) and begins at the EDSA C4 in MM (Quezon City to be exact), and ends at the MacArthur Highway in Mabalacat in Pampanga.

Along the way main towns in the Metro and Central Luzon are passed, amongst them Valenzuela, Malolos and San Fernando in Pampanga. It also passes by many areas in Bulacan such as Bocaue, Balagtas as well as Plaridel.

The Nlex used to become controlled and looked after by the federal government via the PNCC but has since 2005 been passed over to a non-public firm. It has been refurbished and is now equipped with a number of essential features. These include the information signs giving info about the traffic. You will find also rest and service sections, car density devices, Cctv, toll payment and telephones along the Balintawak-Burol-Ines sector.

The Nlex has eight lanes and the speed limit is set at 100 km, although if you’re near the National Capital Region it’s 80 km. Aside from these functions, the expressway has also undergone extensive treatment in specific the drainage sector.
